Popular Nationalist Forum for Supporting Syria’s Steadfastness: The Enemies of Gaza and Syria are One and the Same

DAMASCUS, ( SANA) – The Popular Nationalist Forum for Supporting Syria’s Steadfastness stressed that those who target the resistant Gaza are Syria’s enemies themselves and that the allies of the Israeli entity and their friends among the Arab regimes are waging a ferocious war on Syria.

In a statement following its extraordinary meeting held in Damascus on Monday, the Forum greeted Syria’s leadership, army and people, hailing the sacrifices of the Syrian Arab Army in the face of all hostile schemes.

The statement asserted that the so-called ” Syrian opposition coalition” is a Zionist-US-Turkish- Arab scheme whose main goal is to continue aggression on Syrian, undermine it and destroy its infrastructure.

Representing all popular parties, unions and independent figures and associations, the Forum condemned the so-called “Syrian opposition coalition” as “terrorist and aggressive”, adding that it constitutes another form of killing of the Syrians, calling for foreign intervention and blocking all ways leading to dialogue in order to reach a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria.

The statement indicated that the Syrians are not alone in the field, rather they have real friends in the Arab and international arenas. Continue reading

“Israel” Retreats, Prefers Lull

The smoke of defeat and retreat emerged Tuesday from “Israel’s” security meeting.

According to “Israeli” media, the forum of top nine ministers has decided that the Zionist entity will attempt to reach a lull.

“A decision was taken that for the time being there is a temporary hold on the ground incursion to give diplomacy a chance to succeed,” an “Israeli” official announced following a late-night session of “Israeli” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s inner circle.

Meanwhile, another official told “Ynet” daily that “the goal is to reach a ceasefire and discontinue the operation.”

“While the massive firing of rockets at “Israel’s” south continues… it appears Operation Pillar of Clouds may be drawing to an end,” the daily commented.

Moreover, it mentioned that a heavy barrage of Gaza rockets was fired at the “Israel” Tuesday morning. Also Tuesday, al-Arabiya reported that “Israel” and the Palestinian factions are expected to sign a ceasefire agreement within a matter of hours. It was also reported that preparations for the signing are already underway in Cairo.

This comes as “Israel” asked Egypt to play the role of mediator during a 24-48- hour ceasefire before the final agreement is signed. Sources revealed that the agreement includes the Palestinian resistance conditions of lifting  the Gaza blockade and the opening of various crossings.
Another “Israeli” official said that the “Israeli” army will continue to act with force in the Gaza Strip.

In this context, “Israeli” airstrikes martyred two Palestinians on the seventh day of “Israel’s” bombardment of the coastal strip. Continue reading

NAM calls on UNSC to take action against Israeli aggression in Gaza

Smoke rises after Israeli air strikes targeted Interior Ministry building in Gaza City on November 16, 2012 .

The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) strongly censures the recent Israeli air strikes against the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, urging the UN Security Council to adopt a swift action to put an end to the ongoing violence.

“The Non-Aligned Movement strongly condemns the recent military actions against the Palestinian people and believes that the Israeli regime’s aggression and its resort to bullying against defenseless people requires the immediate attention of the international community,” NAM said in a statement which was unanimously approved on Thursday.

It also urged the UN Security Council, as the body responsible for maintaining international peace and security, to adopt an immediate measure to stop the Israeli attacks on the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The statement added that fresh Israeli air strikes on Gaza have killed and wounded many Palestinians, including women and children.

The use of military force against the Palestinian people with the purpose of intimidation has deteriorated the situation in other parts of the occupied Palestinian territories such as East Al-Quds (East Jerusalem), the NAM’s statement warned.

Over 20 people have been killed and more than 160 others injured in the new wave of Israeli attacks which began on Wednesday.

The Israeli military frequently carries out airstrikes and other attacks on the Gaza Strip, saying the acts of aggression are being conducted for defensive purposes.

However, in violation of international law, disproportionate force is always used and civilians are often killed or injured. Continue reading
