Al-Jafari : 11th report on ‘Children and Armed Conflict’ is motivated by Incitement

Syria dismissed the UN Secretary General’s 11th annual report on ‘Children and Armed Conflict’ as “unprofessional, dishonest and motivated by incitement” as it is aimed at harming Syria and tarnishing its reputation and the extent of its abidance by its international commitments on child protection and preventing violence against them during armed conflicts.

Delivering Syria’s statement at an open UN Security Council session on Thursday, Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Bashar al-Jaafari, voiced deep concern over the wrong information included in the report by the outgoing UNSG Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, Radica Komara Swami.

“We therefore reject all the allegations brought in the report on my country Syria and denounce politicizing this important humanitarian issue which is in the first place concerned with the children of my country,” said al-Jaafari.

He decried the report as lacking the evidence and facts and depending instead on mere media-based anti-Syria claims, wishing that the report’s makers would have at least taken into consideration the Syrian government’s point of view “which we have persisted in conveying it to Komara Swami since the beginning of the events and until the end of her mandate.” Continue reading →

Syrian people warned against ‘fake TV channel’

The site of an attack on the pro-government Al-Ikhbariya satellite television channel’s offices outside Damascus, in which three staff members were killed on June 27, 2012.

The Syrian Information Ministry has cautioned the nation against a “fake” satellite channel which carries the logo of the country’s national TV but has actually been set up to broadcast anti-government reports

At the moment a fake channel is broadcasting Syrian national songs as well as its national anthem to lay the ground for broadcasting the programs that their nature is clear, the ministry said in a statement.

It issued the warning after armed terrorists kidnapped Mohammed Saeed, a broadcaster of the Syrian television, in Jdeidet Artouz area of the capital Damascus.

The ministry also warned that it is possible that the Syrian national TV is taken off air any moment and replaced by the fake channel.  Continue reading →

New Alleged Hezbollah-Iran Joint Terror Operations in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan claims it has ‘again’ busted another Iranian terror cell, but is refusing to provide any evidence or details. According to the report by the country’s state-run AZTV, on February 21 a terrorist cell operated by Hezbollah and Iran’s Revolutionary Guard had been discovered and dismantled. Allegedly the busted group, with guns and explosives, were planning attacks on ‘unspecified’ foreign nationals.

Despite reporters’ attempts the Azeri government refrained from providing any additional information:

Speaking to EurasiaNet.org, a spokesperson for Azerbaijan’s Ministry of National Security refused either to confirm or to deny the station’s report. Strangely, pro-government and state-run news sites have proven similarly skittish about delving into the AzTV report; no news about the arrests could be found on any of these websites on the morning of February 22.

Strangely enough, to back up the story AZTV aired footage of terrorist arrests from an incident that occurred in 2008! This new development appears to follow the very same pattern as Azerbaijan’s claim on the ‘alleged’ assassination plot against Israeli officials in Azerbaijan by an Iran-Sponsored terrorist group last month.

Earlier today APA news agency reported new details about this latest alleged Iranian terror operation. Supposedly, the terrorist group operated under two ringleaders – “Hamid” for Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, and “Haji Abbas” for an armed wing of Hezbollah, Mugavimat. This is supposed to establish the collaborative effort between the Iranian government and Hezbollah:

Azerbaijani Ministry of National Security disarmed the terrorist group of Iranian intelligence agency “Sepah” and “Hezbollah” in Azerbaijan.

The group members gathered material reconnaissance materials. The illegally acquired many weapons, ammunitions, explosives and explosive devices and began preparations to commit a terror act.A group of persons were detained in Azerbaijan over the last several days. Member of Nardaran Sanhedrin Karbalai Natig Karimov told APA that the majority of detained as a result of operative measures taken by the National Security Ministry and law-enforcement bodes were the residents of Baku villages, especially Nardaran. They are accused of establishing armed unit, illegal keeping of weapon, betrayal of motherland and drug trafficking.

‘UK Press TV ban prelude to Iran war’

A political analyst says the British media regulator (Ofcom) shut down Press TV in the UK to prevent the broadcast of the truth about Iran and to set the stage for an attack on the country, Press TV reports.

The British Office of Communications (Ofcom) revoked Press TV’s license and removed the channel from the Sky platform on Friday for what it claimed to be the news network’s breach of the Communications Act. Ofcom had earlier hit Press TV with a fine of 100 thousand pounds.

“All that is coming to deny Iran the ability of expressing really what is happening in Iran and the motives behind imperialist forces [who] are preparing to attack a country [which] never for the last three hundred years attacked anyone except defending itself against aggressors,” Saeb Shaath told Press TV in an exclusive interview.

Ofcom had reportedly alleged that Press TV’s editorial team was based in Tehran, claiming that this is in breach of broadcasting license rules in the UK.

“Ofcom has decided to revoke the license held by Press TV Limited with immediate effect,” the media regulator said in a statement.

Shaath said Israel and the United States had been pushing to take Press TV off air “for years,” stressing that Ofcom’s decision had been influenced by the Zionist lobby.

“But to me, I see this is a real dark day for freedom of speech and a gross reminder of the Spanish Inquisition to silence the voice of Press TV, which gives a huge number of followers in the UK and EU an alternative point of view which underlies what is really going on in the world and that is what has scared them.”

Many observers believe that the British government’s hostile campaign against Press TV has its roots in the channel’s extensive and transparent coverage of the role the British government played in the killing of tens of thousands of innocent people in Iraq and Afghanistan.

They have also noted this behavior is quite natural for a government with more than 400 years of colonialist background filled with breaches of people’s rights, murder, and plundering various nations’ assets.

“They (Ofcom) discovered [that] Press TV is really influential in changing the points of view in the West; and they did not create [a similar] Press TV, they could not influence Press TV,” Shaath concluded.

The March to War: Iran and the Strategic Encirclement of Syria and Lebanon

The encirclement of Syria and Lebanon has long been in the works. Since 2001, Washington and NATO have started the process of cordoning off Lebanon and Syria. The permanent NATO presence in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Syrian Accountability Act are part of this initiative. It appears that this roadmap is based on a 1996 Israeli document aimed at controlling Syria. The document’s name is A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm.

The 1996 Israeli document, which included prominent U.S. policy figures as authors, calls for “rolling back Syria” in 2000 or afterward. The roadmap outlines pushing the Syrians out of Lebanon, diverting the attention of Damascus by using an anti-Syrian opposition in Lebanon, and then destabilizing Syria with the help of both Jordan and Turkey. This has all respectively occurred from 2005 to 2011. This is also why the anti-Syrian March 14 Alliance and the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) were created in Lebanon.

As a first step towards all this the 1996 document even calls for the removal of President Saddam Hussein from power in Baghdad and even alludes to the balkanization of Iraq and forging a strategic regional alliance against Damascus that includes a Sunni Muslim Arab “Central Iraq.” The sectarian nature of this project is very obvious as are its ties to opposing a so-called “Shiite Crescent.” The roadmap seeks to foment sectarian divisions as a means of conquering Syria and creating a Shiite-Sunni rift that will oppose Iran and keep the Arab monarchs in power.
