President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that the Western powers that launched a military campaign against Libya are now apportioning the country’s extensive reserves among themselves.
Ahmadinejad made the remarks in an address to thousands of well-wishers in the city of Birjand, in the eastern province of South Khorasan, on Tuesday.
“I have it on good authority that they (the hegemonistic powers) are now sharing the reserves and works in Libya in order to plunder the money of the people of the country. They have come to plunder the terrain of Libya, and this is a great danger,” Ahmadinejad stated.
“They made attempts to gain control over Libyan people and their resources and wealth with a piece of paper issued by the discredited Security Council, but they are quite mistaken,” he added.
NATO has completely destroyed Libya, and “by looking at the scene, their objectives become clear for us,” Ahmadinejad said, adding, “Gaining control over Libya and imposing non-revolutionaries and unpopular rulers on the Libyan nation are among those objectives.”
“The hegemonistic powers are seeking to defuse their economic crisis through plundering (other countries’ wealth) and establishing dominance over other countries, and they are now seeking to gain control over Libya’s oil (reserves),” he stated.
He added, “The dominance of outsiders over the country will not allow Libyan people to experience the taste of independence and progress and will prevent them from realizing their historic aspirations.”
Ahmadinejad also addressed NATO leaders and said, “You do not have any place among or any credit in the eyes of nations and you are on the verge of collapse, and such measures will not only not save you but will also precipitate your collapse.”
“Everyone should be vigilant, any decision and measure which would help establish the presence and dominance of outsiders in and over Libya will be against the interests of the Libyan nation and nations who are pursuing a quest for freedom and independence,” he said.
The president added, “The world expects the Libyan nation to stand firm and run their country themselves. The people of Libya could efficiently run their country and do not need the presence of outsiders.”
“God forbid that differences of opinion and minor rivalries rob the Libyan nation of the historic opportunity to achieve dignity, a high status, and glory,” the Iranian president said.
“I believe in the greatness and wisdom of the Libyan nation. And the people of the country will stand fast and will drive out each and every one of NATO forces from their soil,” Ahmadinejad pointed out.
He also said that the great nation of Libya has “broken the back of European colonialism in the entire Libya.”
Commenting on the “death of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi”, Ahmadinejad said, “Some believe that they killed Gaddafi so that he will not be able to say anything, just as what they did to (Al-Qaeda leader Osama) bin Laden.”
If there would have been a court, Gaddafi would have been able to tell the world “with whom he concluded agreements and how certain leaders of European countries received money from him for elections and supported him, things could have changed,” he stated.
