Hollywood has taken hold over Washington.
It seems that evermore extravagant Jason Bourne plots are needed in order to get the public behind an increasingly unpopular series of wars and conflicts in the Middle East and Central Asia.
The latest Iranian Assassin Plot originating out of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan (Washington’s new best friend in the region), is an alleged Iranian assassination ring supposedly targeting US Embassy officials in various countries. Giving the US an excuse to lock-down its foreign offices is one thing, but this latest spy-thriller plot also serves another purpose – to mobilize full cooperation from key regional countries (much to the distaste of nearby Russia), and none is more crucial than Azerbaijan – Iran’s neighbor to the north.
The Grand Chessboard is Now in Play
A series of dominos need to fall in order for the green light on Iran to flash freely for Washington, London, and Tel Aviv. The first and most crucial domino is Syria. In the Middle East region, Syria remains as one of the last remaining strong, secular states and maintains solid links not only with Iran, but also Russia. More importantly though, are its links to a highly organized and battle-ready militia and political force – Hezbollah, located in neighboring Lebanon. Once Syria is destabilized and the Assad government is out of the way, Syria can then be further divided into waring factions. When this happens, gone is Hezbollah’s number one supporter in the region.
The next domino is Hezbollah itself, who to date is the single biggest reason why a joint US-Israeli strike on Iran has not happened yet. Memories of Hezbollah routing Israel in 2006 are still fresh in the minds of Israelis who know very well that a pre-emptive war on Iran could see a repeat of a 2006 conflict that saw Israel retreating from Lebanon after sustaining heavy losses and an already security-obsessed Israeli population somewhat terrorized by wave after wave of crude rocket attacks from over their northern border.
A joint US-Israeli strike on Iran cannot happen unless Hezbollah is neutralized, and this might require the destabilization of Lebanon, now an increasingly likely scenario considering the scale of the NATO allies’ proxy war currently being rolled in Syria.
In reality, Iran is not the main objective for Israel. Iran is only part of the narrative – in reverse. Israel’s main concerns have been, and always will be, its immediate neighbors namely Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt. Out of those three, Lebanon is Israel’s most coveted victim, and given the UN Security Council has 388 Israeli airspace violations by Israel against Lebanon recently, there is no doubt that Israel is planning to ‘wipe it off the map.’ Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent statements on Lebanon all but confirm this:
“Yes, and it is not a secret that it will happen with U.S.-Gulf support and that is why they have been warned, but before you ask, you have a look at the new map of the world and see that there is no nation with this name.”
Even though Lebanon – not Iran, is Israel’s chief priorty in terms of regional geopolitics, legions of mindless government and media operatives in Washington and London will continue to construct a fiction Iranian narrative until that narrative becomes a reality. In order to create a story that the both Europeans and Americans can follow, intelligence war rooms in London and Washington must arrange a series of international events – or nonevents, whatever the case may be. These nonevents remain as footnotes in a timeline presented by highly paid analysts and pundits appearing on news channels like the BBC, CNN and FOX News – all in an effort to portray Iran as an aggressor against the west and gain some level of flimsy moral justification to mount a military strike at some point in the near future.
This media exercise done earlier this week with the corporate media’s creation of the Houla Massacre blamed on Assad’s Syrian government, despite any evidence to support the theory. Nonetheless, it is how the mainstream media creates a specific perception, even when there is no actual evidence to support it. It’s simply routine now. The media manipulation and spinning half-stories into apparent truths are the key to building a public consensus supporting – or at least half-way supporting a new military intervention
So here we go again…
According to initial reports in the Washington Post, the newly uncovered ‘Iranian Assassin Plot’ consists of multiple high-value US targets overseas:
In November, the tide of daily cable traffic to the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan brought a chilling message for Ambassador Matthew Bryza, then the top U.S. diplomat to the small Central Asian country. A plot to kill Americans had been uncovered, the message read, and embassy officials were on the target list.
The details, scant at first, became clearer as intelligence agencies from both countries stepped up their probe. The plot had two strands, U.S. officials learned, one involving snipers with silencer-equipped rifles and the other a car bomb, apparently intended to kill embassy employees or members of their families
Quietly mentioned after all the hype, however, is the admission that this latest Grisham plot could not actually be verified:
“Precisely who ordered the hits, and why, was never conclusively determined…”
Still, the mainstream media headline “U.S. officials among the targets of Iran-linked assassination plots” is disseminated across all media to establish the public’s perception of an Iranian threat.
What you are witnessing is a triangle of Hegelian dialectic running between the intelligence community, the media, and the public. The government’s intel community manufactures a threat, the media then hypes that threat, and the public become frightened and become sympathetic to a government-sponsored solution to the threat.
Americans and Europeans may not have learned their lessons from past fabricated intelligence efforts, like Yellowcake from Niger and most recently, the laughable FBI-concocted Iranian “Scarface Plot” in New York, involving an Iranian used car salesman, alleged Mexican drug cartel hitmen, and a Saudi diplomat in the US.
These Hollywood narratives were also discredited and eventually fell to pieces – but the headlines stay etched in the public’s brain – all part of a cumulative, long range effort to create the public perception of an Iranian threat.
Also important to note that if no real evidence of a genuine plot exists in the real world, intelligence operatives and investigators will simply draw associative links between phantom perpetrators and the countries they intend to implicate in order to support a wider foreign policy objective. In this case, it’s coloring in Iran, Syria, and Hezbollah on Washington’s map of the world.
The Post article continues to drip-feed Washington’s latest Hezbollah additions to the Iranian Plot narrative:
In recent weeks, investigators working in four countries have amassed new evidence tying the disparate assassination attempts to one another and linking all of them to either Iran-backed Hezbollah militants or operatives based inside Iran, according to U.S. and Middle Eastern security officials. An official report last month summarizing the evidence cited phone records, forensic tests, coordinated travel arrangements and even cellphone SIM cards purchased in Iran and used by several of the would-be assailants, said two officials who have seen the six-page document.
A pre-emptive strike on Iran will be a tough sell down the usual UN route, as was the case with the destruction of Libya by NATO. So a wider and long, sustained media narrative is required for the US and Israel to take Iran on outside of the UN community.
For blood-thirsty globalists, Bilderbergers and neoconservatives, Iran is a primary target – but it’s more likely that Iran is not Israel’s real target – Lebanon and Syria are. The coalition of criminal interests is merely a marriage of convenience, meaning that Israel will play along with the globalists Iranian narrative in order to nix its neighbors and hopefully making some material land gains in the process, and possibly move on to reclaim the mineral-rich Sinai Peninsula after this round of dust settles. Regardless of either outcome, it will make sure that no change will be made to Israel’s occupation and apartheid rule over the Palestinians.
If no traction is had on this latest Iranian Plot, expect the Hegelian pushers to keep coming up with other plots. And if the plots do not work, then you can expect this very same dialectic triangle to create a false flag event involving a bomb and dead civilians in the US or Europe, or elsewhere – to be blamed on the political enemies of the west and swiftly used in order to green light military intervention and bombing campaigns.
War with Iran could lead to WWIII, so it’s high time people wise up to this shallow manipulation and consensus building.
The question remains, are Americans and Europeans stupid enough to fall for this all over again?
