The Mirror is reporting that Central Intelligence Agency spies have smuggled up to 14 Stinger missiles into Syria to aid in the rebellion against the government (see article: CIA spies ‘smuggle 14 Stinger missiles into Syria so rebels can take out regime warplanes).
The FIM-92 Stinger is a personal portable infrared homing surface-to-air missile (SAM), which can be adapted to fire from ground vehicles and helicopters (as an AAM), developed in the United States and entered into service in 1981.
Used by the militaries of the US and by 29 other countries, the basic Stinger missile has to date been used in several dozen attacks against civilian aircraft.
According to some reports over 20,000 Stinger Missiles “disappeared” in Libya and nobody knows where the missiles went or who has them
It is manufactured by Raytheon Missile Systems with an under license by EADS in Germany, with 70,000 missiles produced.
It is classified as a Man-Portable Air-Defense System (MANPADS).
In what was apparently a secret deal between the CIA and Saudi Arabia, which apparently cooperate on such matters as arming terrorist and rebel forces.
I guess the CIA just happened to be going in that general direction into Syria and thought to do the King a favor?
The unit cost of Stinger missiles is reported to be around $38,000 dollars, according to Wikipedia.
President Bashar al-Assad’s MIG-23 warplanes and helicopter gunships have supposedly killed more than 1,000 people, according to the report.
The Mirror source said: “The West and the rest of the Middle East is not going to be able to secure a no-fly zone above Syria any time soon so the only way to stop the carnage is to take on Assad’s air force from the ground. Knowing that Stingers are in the hands of the opposition forces will hopefully mean Assad’s air power will be much diminished but this will be a slow process.”
We contacted the Mirror and they stand by the accuracy of the information in their report.
This information alleging that the CIA smuggling Stinger missiles is also being reported on the Global research website.
