NATO has launched a new military base in Turkey’s western province of Izmir as the western alliance plans to deploy advanced Patriot missiles on Turkish border with Syria.

NATO’s Allied Land Command will “serve as a base for carrying out land operations when ordered by the alliance following the inspection, evaluation, preparation and standardization of NATO land forces,” Turkish newspaperHurriyet Daily News reported on Saturday.

“NATO has trusted Turkey at every step since its membership. Likewise, Turkey can always trust in NATO,” NATO supreme commander Adm. James Stavridis said during the opening ceremony of the military base on Friday.

Speaking about the deployment of Patriot missiles in southern Turkey, NATO Allied Land Commander Gen. Frederick Ben Hodges claimed that the move is not aimed at creating “a no-fly zone or to attack.”

“The evaluation team composed of officials from the US, Germany, the Netherlands and NATO were assigned in less than a week upon Turkey’s request. I expect the evaluation team to complete their work in a few days. If the deployment of the Patriots is accepted, it will be done to protect the Turkish people,” he said.

On November 21, Turkey formally asked NATO to deploy the surface-to-air Patriot missiles on its border with Syria. In response, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said the alliance would consider the Turkish request “without delay.”  Continue reading

‘NATO behind Houla massacre’

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has said that most of the civilian victims of last week’s massacre in the Syrian town of Houla were executed

Over 100 civilians were killed in a massacre in the western town of Houla on May 25.

Meanwhile, a number of Western governments have recalled their ambassadors and high-ranking diplomats from Syria in protest to the killing of at least 108 people.

The Syrian government says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country and that security forces have been given clear instructions not to harm civilians.

Press TV has conducted an interview with Syed Ali Wasif, from the Society for International Reforms and Research, to hear his opinion on this issue. The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: First of all I like to get your opinion on the double standard being adopted by the international community, by and large when it comes to Syria specifically with regards to this Houla massacre where most of the civilians were killed at point-blank range and not by the artillery and tanks as many claimed?

Wasif: Well unfortunately yes there is a double standard Continue reading

No NATO, No War”: U.S. Veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan Return War Medals at NATO Summit

Democracy Now! broadcasts from Chicago, site of the largest NATO summit in the organization’s six-decade history. On Sunday, veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, as well as members of Afghans For Peace, led a peace march of thousands of people. Iraq Veterans Against the War held a ceremony where nearly 50 veterans discarded their war medals by hurling them down the street in the direction of the NATO summit. We hear the soldiers’ voices as they return their medals one by one from the stage. “I am giving back my global war on terror service medal in solidarity with the people of Iraq and Afghanistan,” said Jason Heard, a former combat medic who spent 10 years in the U.S. Army. “I am deeply sorry for the destruction that we have caused in these countries and around the globe.”

The ultimate crime against humanity, the deliberate attack on the DNA of a nation…. this is more much more than what the Nazis ever tried.

[Editor’s note: You can find more on this topic HERE – HERE – HERE . The use of Depleted Uranium on innocent civilians is a breach of every single international convention and law. Just so you know, each Thomahawk missile contains 360kgs of Depleted Uranium . For the selfish ones who actually don’t care of seeing Arab DNA being destroyed by the Empire, they should learn about the US and NATO soldiers that went on the field and that also breathed Depleted Uranium – HEREHERE.]

Please, help us creating awareness of those continuous CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY that mainstream media totally accepted to cover up (hence, they are to be considered as accomplices of those crimes) No need to mention the criminal United Nation that serves as a legitimate tool to carry out those attrocities and NATO, which is the performing evil in implementing GENOCIDE.
