Assad: Israel Obviously Supporting Terrorists in Syria

TEHRAN (FNA)- Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said the Israeli military is obviously supporting terrorist groups in Syria by conducting airstrikes in the crisis-hit country.

“Whenever we make advances in some place, they (the Israelis) attack in order to undermine the army. It’s very clear,” Assad said in an interview with American magazine Foreign Affairs which will be published on Monday, press tv reported. “That’s why some in Syria joke, ‘How can you say that Al-Qaeda doesn’t have an air force? They have the Israeli air force’,” he added.

His remarks came a week after an Israeli aircraft fired two missiles at the village of Quneitra in the Syrian Golan Heights bordering Lebanon.

Six members of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah and a senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) were killed in the attack.

Iran’s Brigadier General Mohammad Ali Allahdadi had traveled to Syria to provide consultation and help the Syrian government and nation counter the Takfiri terrorists in the country.

The Tel Aviv regime has carried out several airstrikes in Syria since the start of the nearly four-year-old foreign-sponsored militancy there.

Damascus says Tel Aviv and its western allies are aiding the extremist terror groups operating inside Syria since March 2011.

Hezbollah has vowed its response to the attack will be extremely painful.

IRGC Chief Major General Mohammad Ali Ja’fari also warned Israel on Tuesday that the Zionist entity “should await annihilating thunderbolts”.

Aggressors will suffer crushing defeat by attacking Iran: Cmdr.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi has warned that any military attack on Iran will result in a heavy defeat for the aggressors.

“The Islamic Republic establishment has acquired such a capability that the aggressor forces will suffer an unbelievable and crushing defeat in case of any attack or intervention,” Fadavi said on Thursday.

Iran has not recognized the power of the global arrogance ‘even for a moment’ since the victory of the Islamic Revolution 33 years ago and Iranian leaders have safeguarded the legitimacy of the Islamic establishment by standing against their conspiracies, he added.

Fadavi emphasized that the enemy seeks to confront with Iran by imposing economic and political sanctions and desecrating Islamic sanctities. It does not dare to have a direct confrontation with Iranian forces.

Israel has recently stepped up threats of carrying out a strike against Iran’s nuclear energy facilities.  Continue reading

An Iranian lawmaker says the upcoming war games by the United States and 20 other countries near the Persian Gulf will not have the slightest impact on the power of the Islamic Republic since Iran is fully in command of the region.

“Holding the maneuver certainly aims to boost morale among Western powers and some of their agents in the region. They are fighting tooth and nail to display their power to the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Vahid Ahmadi said on Wednesday.

The US has announced that it would hold demining drills near the Persian Gulf in cooperation with 20 other countries on September 16-27.

On Wednesday, Navy Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Rear-Admiral Ali Fadavi warned that should the US attempt the folly of staging an act of aggression in the Persian Gulf, such military action will cost the lives of all the American forces engaged. Continue reading
