Syria army retakes Talfita from al-Nusra terrorists


Units of the Syrian armed forces in cooperation with citizens regained full control over the town of Talfita and nearby mountains on the outskirts of Damascus.

Syrian troops have regained full control over Talfita town and its suburbs near the al-Qalamoun region on the outskirts of Damascus, Al-Alam correspondent reports.

Syrian army troops stormed the rebel-held town of Talfita on Monday and after fierce fighting with al-Nusra terrorists, killed dozens of terrorists and regained the control of the town, Al-Alam reported.

After the victory, the residents of the area gave Syrian soldiers a very warm welcome.

Syrian army sources pointed out the widespread presence of armed terrorists in the area and the nearby villages, had stressed to continue the mopping-up operations in the region.

“We are here to establish security and stability with the help of locals and national defense groups,” a Syrian army soldier told Al-Alam correspondent.

Another Syrian soldier said “Talfita region has completely been secured; dozens of armed terrorists have been gun down and the rest fled to the mountains.”

Syrian forces foil insurgent infiltration attempt from Lebanon

Syrian security forces have foiled an attempt by insurgents to infiltrate the country from the Lebanese border, Syrian state TV reports.

The insurgents’ efforts to step into the Syrian territories comes as fierce clashes are underway between Syrian army forces and armed groups in the country’s larget city of Aleppo.

Syria has been the scene of unrest since March 2011. Damascus blames “outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups” for the unrest, asserting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.

Lebanese Defense Minister: Al-Qaeda Members Infiltration from Lebanon to Syria Based on Information, Not Guesswork

By R. Milhem / H. Sabbagh from BEIRUT, (Source: SANA) – Lebanese Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn on Monday reiterated what he has already declared about the infiltration of al-Qaeda members into the Syrian territories from the Lebanese borders and through Ersal Village.

The Minister underlined that his statement is based on specific information not to analysis, guesswork or drawing conclusions.

Ghosn said in a statement that he found it important to brief the public opinion on the information to warn of its danger against Lebanon so that everyone shoulders their national responsibility, expressing wonder and sorrow over the campaign launched by 14th March party after his latest statements in this regard.

He pointed out that the Lebanese people of all backgrounds reject terrorism and they fight it, indicating that terrorism does not have a sect or a religion and calling upon these powers to stop launching campaigns for realizing obvious political objectives.
