Chavez opposes the International Interference on Syria

Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, on Wednesday stressed that the Syrian people are victim of a violent colonial policy.

He asserted that he will assess the Iranian proposal on the inclusion of Venezuela in the ‘Contact Group’ to solve the crisis in Syria.

President Chavez said in a press conference, “We will study the Iranian proposal and see how we can contribute to reaching a solution to the crisis in Syria.”

Iran proposed that Venezuela, a member of the Non-Aligned Movement, and Iraq, as current president of the Arab League, join the coming meetings of the contact group on Syria which encompasses Egypt, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, in addition to Iran.

Following the Cairo meeting, Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdullahian stressed that his country welcomes the goal of the meeting as it is based on immediate halt of violence, maintaining Syria’s integrity and sovereignty and rejection of any foreign interference.

Al-Halki: Confronting the Concept of Humanitarian Interference Poses Real Challenge for NAM

TEHRAN_ Prime Minister, Dr. Wael al-Halki said that the Non-Aligned Movement has played a central role and achieved notable successes in international issues of concern to its member countries, especially ending colonialism, eliminating racial discrimination, the demilitarization and development.

In his speech at the 16 NAM Summit in Tehran, al-Halki said that the international community has agreed to combat the scourge of terrorism that is threatening stability in many countries, but defining terrorism and means of combating it have remained hostage to double-standard policies and political wrangling.

Syria red line of anti-Israel resistance front: Iran Cmdr.

A senior Iranian military commander says Syria is the red line of the anti-Israel resistance front and all freedom-seeking countries should support it against enemies.

“The issue of Syria is very significant and the red line of [anti-Israel] resistance front. Therefore, any negotiations on this issue should take place within framework of the interests of resistance [movement] and the Syrian people that have become a target for terrorists as well as Arrogant regimes affiliated with the West,” Deputy Head of Iran’s Armed Forces Chiefs of Staff Brigadier General Seyyed Masoud Jazayeri said on Wednesday.
