Russia has no plans to give up trade and economic cooperation with Syria, Russian Foreign Ministry officials said, commenting on the possibility of giving a credit to Damascus.

“The unilateral sanctions imposed on Syria by a number of countries can’t serve as a ground for closing down Russian-Syrian economic programmes”, the document points out.

Another session of the permanent Russian-Syrian commission on trade, economic, and also scientific and technical cooperation took place in Moscow this May, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said.

This cooperation covers oil-and-gas field, energy sector, transport, and agriculture.
