Also in the past 24 hours, a large number of terrorists were killed in heavy fighting between the Syrian army and the Al-Nusra Front in Damascus province.

Syria has been the scene of insurgency since 2011 when certain western powers and their regional allies voiced loudly that Syrian protests have no diplomatic solution and they started supplying the country’s opposition groups with their arms and funds.

In 2014, specially after victory of President Bashar al-Assad in the country’s presidential election, the army has gained upper hand in its anti-terrorism campaign, and has been partly successful in sealing borders with Turkey and Jordan.

Syrians rally in support of army in Homs

Syrians have held a rally in the city of Homs to thank the country’s military for bringing back security to more areas in the region as well as other parts of the country.

Large number of Syrians took to the streets in al-Dahiyeh and al-Ommaliah areas in the city of Homs on Monday, with participation of the city’s governor, Talal Brazi.

The government troops have recently conducted successful cleanup operations across the country, inflicting heavy losses on the militants.

The Syrian army regained full control over three villages in the western province of Latakia on Monday, following heavy fighting with foreign-backed Takfiri militants.

On July 31, the army regained control of the main stronghold of foreign-backed militants in Homs in the Khaldiyeh district after more than one month of fierce fighting.

The Syrian Army’s push against the militants has rattled their sponsors.

Syrian Information Minister Omran al-Zohbi said on June 26 that Saudi Arabia is trembling with fear because of the Syrian Army’s recent gains against the militants.

Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to reports, Western powers and their regional allies – especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey – are supporting the Takfiri militants operating inside Syria.

According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 people have been killed and a total of 7.8 million displaced in Syria due to the violence.

Syria’s army now controlling most parts of country: Iranian foreign minister

Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi

Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi says the situation in Syria is ‘very good,’ as the Syrian army now has control over most parts of the Arab country.

“We are hopeful about the future of Syria. Of course, this does not mean that everything will soon be over, [but] the Syrian army has resisted pretty well so far,” said the top Iranian diplomat in Tehran on Wednesday following his trip to Syria and Jordan.

“The region is currently witnessing momentous developments. Therefore, Iran must be in constant contact with the regional countries in order to prevent any incident the inevitable consequences of which could engulf the entire region,” Salehi added.

The Iranian foreign minister arrived in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on Tuesday, and held talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to discuss the latest developments in the crisis-hit country.

Earlier in the day, Salehi met with top Jordanian officials including his Jordanian counterpart, Yasser Judeh, Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour and King Abdullah II.

Referring to his meeting with Assad, Salehi said the latest regional developments were discussed in the meeting where “good decisions” were also made.

“More important than anything else is the people’s support for the Syrian army and government… they have realized that the mercenaries massacring the people inside Syria do not want anyone’s good,” Salehi said.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of security personnel, have been killed by foreign-backed militants, which Damascus says are trained and supported by the Western powers and their allies in the region.

Several international human rights organizations have accused foreign-sponsored militants of committing war crimes.

The Syrian government says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country and accuses Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey of arming the opposition.

Why Syria Will Not Fall

By Ghaleb Kandil, Vijayvaani

The recent developments in Syria revealed a series of important signs which will have decisive repercussions over the course of the global war led by the United States to destroy this country. Unlike the information and impressions of American strategists and their European and Arab accomplices – as conveyed by hundreds of media outlets engaged in the battle – the death squads, mercenaries and Takfiri groups introduced from all parts of the world suffered a crushing defeat at the level of the battles. Nonetheless, the Turkish officials and their Qatari and Saudi allies had promised – as they have already done last year and during the same period – that the month of Ramadan will witness the fall of the resisting regime in Syria. These illusions have once again collapsed on the battlefield where the armed gangs suffered the fall of thousands of dead, wounded and detainees.

Indeed, the comprehensive attack launched by the extremists against Damascus ended – even with the recognition of Western media outlets – with massive losses. Hence, the force which included local mercenaries and jihadists from around the world was completely annihilated by the Syrian army that is pursuing the remnants on the outskirts of the capital. As a result, tons of weapons were confiscated and the heavy infrastructure of the armed groups was dismantled and destroyed, which will require months to reconstruct if the armed groups are ever able to do so.

The outcome of the Aleppo battle on the other hand is known in advance, as the extremists are falling by the thousands in the face of the methodic progress of the army which was able to fully sever the supply lines of the mercenaries who came from the training camps led by the CIA in Turkey.
Consequently, the armed gangs can no longer deliver reinforcements without having to pay a hefty price. As to their 4×4 convoys which are equipped with heavy artillery and were offered by their regional sponsors, they are moving under the fire of the army’s helicopters and aircrafts and are falling in the ambushes set up by the elite forces that have infiltrated enemy lines.
