What’s behind the U.S. based “Syrian Support Group” ?

In a recent Russia Today video, we learn that the “Syrian Support Group” received a waiver from the US treasury department authorizing it to provide financial and logistical help to the so called Free Syrian Army.

Let’s have a closer look at this mysterious group…

1. The SSG has “received a license from the U.S. Department of Treasury Office of Foreign Asset Control (“OFAC”) that permits the organization to raise funds and provide certain services to the Free Syrian Army (the “FSA”)“.

That basically means that this Group has the right to take its own decisions and doesn’t need to go through Congress nor any official institution prior taking action. A very important question arises: what does “Certain services” mean? The general public is clearly not being told to what extent & how its tax money is being used for. Is the SSG talking about communication equipment? Heavy Artillery? Targeted assassinations? No one knows. Not even those paying for it: the US tax payers through the U.S. Department of Treasury Office of Foreign Asset Control.

2. In the FAQ section, we can also read “SGG is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization formed to support the establishment of a free, independent and democratic Syria. Towards that end, it seeks to facilitate, through all legal means, the protection of Syrian civilians during their historic struggle for freedom against the Assad regime”

“Legal means” ? The SSG is blatantly admitting that it funds and provides “certain services” to the so called Free Syrian Army. Which is a clear violation of the UN Charter and UN resolution A/RES/56/154 which states: “6. Calls upon all States to refrain from financing political parties or other organizations in any other State in a way that is contrary to the principles of the Charter and that undermines the legitimacy of its electoral processes”

I strongly recommend you to go to the SSG website and look through it by yourself. Though, the previous examples should be enough for the people to understand what the SSG is. It is a so called “Nonprofit organization” totally and hiddenly controlled by the government enabling it to do whatever it wants with no risk of being held accountable. On top of that, the SSG enables people to make donations. Hence, if anything leaks, who would be to blame? Not the government. Because the SSG actions are based on people and corporations donations.

‘Plan AFRICOM’? Mali Coup Leader US-Trained

Shocking as it may seem, Mali’s coup leader, Captain Amadou Haya Sanogo, had been given US military and intelligence training by the US Africa Command, through the US State Department-sponsored International Military Education and Training program.

The narrative is that Tuareg fighters returning from fighting for Gaddafi in Libya were stirring up trouble in Mali and the elected government of President Amadou Toumani Toure was not aggressive enough in combating the rebels in the north. Being a good patriot, Sanogo’s soldiers took matters into their own hands.

Proving that Sanogo was paying attention during his State Department-funded training, he named his movement to overthrow the legitimately-elected government of Mali the “National Committee for the Return of Democracy and the Restoration of the State.” Democracy is what we say it is. You return to democracy by overthrowing democracy. To understand the logic, it may be necessary to take US State Department-funded “demokra-speak” lessons.

The Washington Post reports another interesting AFRICOM link:

The Africa Command had planned to hold a major regional military exercise in Mali last month but canceled because of Mali’s struggles to contain a Tuareg insurgency in the northern part of the country. The exercise, called Flintlock 2012, was supposed to bring together security forces from West Africa, Europe and the United States to coordinate counterterrorism missions.

The US government has condemned the coup in Mali, but as RT points out “is not planning to reconsider its $140-million aid program to Mali in 2012.” Sounds a bit like Honduras, doesn’t it? Remember the US government crocodile tears over the overthrow of President Zelaya, not long after Zelaya decided to join Hugo Chavez’s ALBA, the “Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America.”

I cannot help but wonder how much of this “democratic coup” can be explained by the very interesting lengthy study, “AFRICOM Report: Combating Chinese Economic Encroachment in Central Africa”. (h/t LandDestroyer)

The Next War on Washington’s Agenda

By Paul Craig Roberts

Only the blind do not see that the US government is preparing to attack Iran. According to Professor Michel Chossudovsky, “Active war preparations directed against Iran (with the involvement of Israel and NATO) were initiated in May 2003.” http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=28542

Washington has deployed missiles directed at Iran in its oil emirate puppet states, Oman and the UAE, and little doubt in the other US puppet states in the Middle East. Washington has beefed up Saudi Arabia’s jet fighter force. Most recently, Washington has deployed 9,000 US troops to Israel to participate in “war games” designed to test the US/Israeli air defense system. As Iran represents no threat unless attacked, Washington’s war preparations signal Washington’s intention to attack Iran.

Another signal that Washington has a new war on its agenda is the raised level of Washington’s rhetoric and demonization of Iran. Judging by polls Washington’s propaganda that Iran is threatening the US by developing a nuclear weapon has met with success. Half of the American public support a military attack on Iran in order to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear capability. Those of us who are trying to awaken our fellow citizens start from a deficit that the minds of half of the US population are under Big Brother’s control.

As the International Atomic Energy Agency’s reports from its inspectors on the ground in Iran have made clear for years, there is no evidence that Iran has diverted any enriched uranium from its nuclear energy program. The shrill hype coming from Washington and from the neoconservative media is groundless. It is the same level of lie as Washington’s claim that Saddam Hussein in Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Every US soldier who died in that war died in behalf of a lie. Continue reading

Iran, Venezuela slam Western threats

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (L) and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez at the Miraflores presidential palace, Caracas, January 9, 2012
Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez have censured the hegemonic powers’ persisting efforts to make war threats and impose sanctions against independent and developing nations of the world.

In a joint statement issued Monday in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas, the two presidents denounced all acts of terrorism in the world and called for collective efforts by the international community to counter the “sordid phenomenon.”

Referring to the ongoing freedom- and justice-seeking uprisings across the Middle East, Presidents Ahmadinejad and Chavez voiced support for the rightful demands of people in the region and denounced any foreign interference as the key element in aggravating regional crises.

The Iranian and Venezuelan presidents also expressed regret over the massacre of civilians and security forces in Syria, voiced support for the Syrian reform process and lashed out at global imperialism and the Israeli regime for their “blatant interference” in regional affairs.  Continue reading
